28/3/2014 - lata hammer, bentong, pahang
Marks my first trip on my one month long break from work. The cool and chilling sounds of the waterfalls was calling me and I thought it would be a good start to my month long 'break'.
We have no experience on getting to Lata Hammer. All we had was directions from other blogs Thanks guys!
How to get there
Generally, Lata Hammer is in Bentong. Getting there wasn't really a problem. Once we parked, we realised that we are not in a jungle where there would usually be an entrance, instead we were surrounded by orchards!
We parked shortly after the entrance by the river. I imagine this river is frequent by visitors in the afternoon as there were a few gazebos around the parking area. It is clean and the water is cool for a swim.
One thing about me, I am not really a fan of waterfalls and rivers. I am grateful to camp by any river after a long hike for there will be endless supply of water easy for cooking and cleaning, but not for leisure to find a waterfall/ river just to spend the day. I accept that I crave adventures differently, but hey once a while waterfalls can be fun.
We started the hike at around 1030, again it is not advisable to start any hike so late for fear that in the event get lost and there will not be enough time to get back to the car park. However, we still proceed with the plan with a cut-off time at 1pm.
From the car park, we headed along the 4x4 tracks into the deeper section of the orchards. After close to 20 minutes of walking, you will find a bridge.
The bridge links to another orchard where the trek to Lata Hammer is. If you have a 4x4, you can easily access via this route as oppose to by foot and the journey would take half the time lesser.

Shortly after the river crossing and walking, keep to the right fork as you will reach another orchard. Be sure to ask for permission before you enter the private property. An eldery man is nice to point us the direction where the actual trek to Lata Hammer is.
Shortly after crossing the gates, there will be a river crossing like the picture below. This is where the actual trek to Lata Hammer begins. The trek is wide and accessible. It will take about 30 minutes to reach Lata Hammer
Leeches beware! There are quite a few big ones on the treks. I was lucky not to get bitten by one as the bite can get really itchy and annoying.

Lata Hammer Waterfall is a cool place to have a picnic or even BBQ. We did not do so cause of the many miscommunication occurred the night before the hike, but we still enjoyed the place no less :)
