Gunung Bunga Buah - Revisited - Rewritten

Gunung Bunga Buah (GBB) - Revisited & Rewritten

25/10/2014

Revisited Gunung Bunga Buah in Genting Highlands for a few reasons. Firstly, its been a while since my last hike (back in August 2014 - CBL; Chemerong, Berembun and Lansir, with my 2 friends from Germany) and; secondly, to accompany my friend who wants to revenge the mountain as he failed to conquer it back in 2013.

In summary, I would like to personally rewrite history on the mountain itself. I was an inexperienced hiker who gets to taste her own medicine. 'padan muka' kau!

So it started today! My gift for remembering trails and identifying markers made the journey smooth sailing for the 5 of us to hike GBB

For those who wants to give a GBB  a try, here are some pointers. Do take note.
  • The tarmac road before the Pintu Rimba is a long one. It's about 45mins to 1hour long depending on your pace. It may get boring after a while. Do not give up! Enjoy the trek as much as possible.
  • The trails are fairly easy. The first hill is the 'tanah merah' soil or laterit soil which may get super slippery during rain. Please be extra careful.
  • With steady pace, the 'Bonzai Garden' will take you about one hour from the Pintu Rimba.
  • The campsite and the peak, another 30 mins of steady pace from the 'Bonzai Garden'.
  • There is no water point at the campsite & peak.

*Steady pace - walking fast, stop for breaks after 30mins of trekking and rest for a solid 5 mins. I have been keeping this pace for trail running purpose.

Here's a short video I compiled on GBB. Not educational, but my personal point of view on GBB. Enjoy!

The GAP year

happily married on the last day of 2017  Feb 2016 was the last post. Since then a lot has happened. Took a while to adjust to my new lifestyle.  Truthfully, still adjusting. Happy? Needless to say, you might not recognise me this time around from the extra extra pounds I've successfully put on. I visited this blog sometime last week and immediately thought, OMG what happened. I still think I should continue to blog. So this post, is the 1st for 2018.

Kathmandu, Nepal

This will be my entry on Kathmandu. The perks of having a travel journal. You write it down. Close the book. Open it again few months later, you will remember the places you have visited. Even the tiniest detail that you probably have forgotten! It has been a few months since my last trip to Nepal, and it seemed like its been too long. Reading back on the notes, I think it is high time to me to transfer everything down here, and probably leave the itsy-bitsy detail in my book. It was my first visit to Nepal, and I certainly hope it will not be the last. Our first day setting foot in Nepal was Kathmandu. The busy streets, the locals, hikers, tourists, bikes, cars and the dusty roads is exactly what I've pictured prior setting foot here. Experiencing it on the other hand is another story. Wee morning in Kathmandu. I love how the mornings here is chilly in March and before the roads get all dusty and warm, it is then the city comes to life! The colorful and pre...
