Wadi Rum, Jordan

My first desert experience. This post are mostly pictures from the day trip in Wadi Rum.

I was lucky to visit this protected site also known as the valley of the moon.

We started early in the morning to the desert from Petra, further south of Jordan to the Wadi Rum Visitor's Centre. Here the weather is still pretty cool in November.

Since we didn't take the 'traditional' way travelling in the desert by riding camels, we go the modern way! 4x4!! Here in the picture the Bedouins are setting up our ride for the day.

Splendid views - our guide explained to us how the Bedouin tribe lived and how they travel from one desert to another. What amaze me is that the people here are really friendly. We made a stop on the higher area of the desert where I get to feel the desert trail.

I wish that we could stay longer at the desert and learn a thing or two from the tribe. We stopped at one of the campsite and I can tell that this place is lively at night.

the seating area is really colorful! I don't see a female Bedouin, does that mean the men actually decorated the campsite? They have taste alright :)

We were offered tea at the campsite and enjoyed an hour at the site taking more pictures with the family.

I had an awesome time here. I have a bucket list now to come back here and spend the night under the stars.

So what do I think about my first ever desert experience? I do like it. I always think being on the desert is just like spending your time at the beach. The heat and the warm breeze. Quite the contrary, the sand is a lot smoother than the beach and it is less harsh (I think?) It doesn't feel as sticky and smelly as the ocean. It was a good experience. I guess I know why Lawrence of Arabia was fond of this place. The place was welcoming and beautiful.

Ancient wall 'drawings' - Anfashieh Inscriptions , most probably belonging to the ancient Nabateans. Drawings of houses and animals. I wonder what it really means though.

With the famous carving of Lawrence of Arabia at the entrance of the campsite where we had tea and entertained by the Bedouin tribe.

More pictures coming!!

The GAP year

happily married on the last day of 2017  Feb 2016 was the last post. Since then a lot has happened. Took a while to adjust to my new lifestyle.  Truthfully, still adjusting. Happy? Needless to say, you might not recognise me this time around from the extra extra pounds I've successfully put on. I visited this blog sometime last week and immediately thought, OMG what happened. I still think I should continue to blog. So this post, is the 1st for 2018.

Kathmandu, Nepal

This will be my entry on Kathmandu. The perks of having a travel journal. You write it down. Close the book. Open it again few months later, you will remember the places you have visited. Even the tiniest detail that you probably have forgotten! It has been a few months since my last trip to Nepal, and it seemed like its been too long. Reading back on the notes, I think it is high time to me to transfer everything down here, and probably leave the itsy-bitsy detail in my book. It was my first visit to Nepal, and I certainly hope it will not be the last. Our first day setting foot in Nepal was Kathmandu. The busy streets, the locals, hikers, tourists, bikes, cars and the dusty roads is exactly what I've pictured prior setting foot here. Experiencing it on the other hand is another story. Wee morning in Kathmandu. I love how the mornings here is chilly in March and before the roads get all dusty and warm, it is then the city comes to life! The colorful and pre...
